Research of intra_4×4 block prediction mode selection algorithm in H.264/AVC

H.264/AVC is the newest video coding standard,and it employed intra_frame prediction technique in space domain to enhance coding efficiency.However,H.264/AVC increases prediction complexity drastically because of quite a few intra_frame prediction modes.After analyzing intra_frame prediction algorithm,a new intra_4 ×4 mode selection algorithm based on rate distortion optimization(RDO) was proposed.Experimental results show that the algorithm reduces mode searching ranges and intra_frame prediction complexity greatly while basically keeping coding performance.At the same time,the algorithm is more suitable for faster spatial changes video sequences.
