The Order of Choice Limbs In An Item-arranging Choice Question

Ding Li · Journal of Hubei University · 2000

This paper, mainly according to the pragmatic value, discusses the positional relation of the choice limbs in two important types which belong to the item-arranging choice question “是A还是B” in the mandarin Chinese. In the item-arranging choice question for inquiring into doubt, the order of the choice limbs A and B is restricted by the situations such as whether the possibility of the choice limbs A and B being tenable is big or small. In the item-arranging choice question for asking in report, the order of the choice limbs A and B is restricted by the situations such as whether the choice limbs A and B is true or false. Sometimes, the order of the choice limbs A and B in the item-arranging choice question is mandatory, not being influenced by the pragmatic value of this sort of question.
