Fast Image Registration Based on Shape Matching

To take advantage of feature-based image registration and pixel-based image registration,a new method was proposed which combined the maximum mutual information optimization with shape matching.The target shapes were firstly extracted from reference image and floating image,and then matching was performed.The initial value of the mutual information optimization was calculated using the matching results to continue search- ing.Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm has low computational complexity,fast speed,and high accuracy,moreover it can avoid the convergence at the local extremum when performing parameters optimization, which improves the speed and accuracy of the registration effectively.
