This paper is concerned with a unified methodology for the analysis and design of the fuzzy(controller) and the fuzzy observer for nonlinear system. The discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno(TS) fuzzy model in delta-operator form is adopted for fuzzy modeling of the nonlinear system.Based on Lyapunov stable(theory,) new design techniques for state feedback and output feedback controllers are proposed. It is shown that the resulting closed-loop system is globally stable and the controller can be obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities that is numerically feasible with commercially available software. In other(words,) it is shown that the separation principle of the controller and observer design is still maintained for delta-(domain) TS fuzzy model. The proposed results can bring existing related results for discrete and continuous fuzzy control systems into the unified delta operator framework.
