The Analysis on Modal Verbs——Based on Chinese Learner English Corpus ST6

Modal verbs are very important but difficult for Chinese Learners of English.Comparing Chinese Learner English Corpus ST6(CLEC ST6) with British National Corpus Written(BNC Written),by applying the software AntConc 3.2,this paper analyzes modal verbs in these two corpora from the perspectives of frequency per million words and cluster differences,following the causes respectively.
