An End-to-End Heuristic TCP Improving Mechanism for MANET

Wang Dong-an · Microelectronics & Computer · 2005

An end-to-end heuristic TCP improving mechanism is proposed for Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET). Through this mechanism, Transport Control Protocol (TCP) receiver can not only infer the real reason of packet losses, but also early predict network congestion. Furthermore, the receiver can feed back the inference and predication to the sender using ECN and/or ELN mechanisms, thus TCP improved in MANET. The simulation results using NS-2 show that this mechanism is better than traditional TCP.
