A Research Review of Online Innovation Contest

Online innovation contest is a new effective way for open innovation.The corporations can submit contest problems online to seek solutions from a variety of external solvers,and the solver who submits the best solution will get the award set by the sponsor.Online innovation contest,as a new open innovation method,is gaining more and more attention from researchers and practitioners.The current research is in the primary exploring stage.This paper aimed to further the research in this area.Firstly,we analyzed the value of online innovation contest for open innovation,and the current situations of online innovation contest in China.Secondly,the research in online innovation contest was reviewed from three aspects: monetary incentive,solvers' behavior,and solvers collective intelligence.Finally,we summarized extant research and propose four topics for further research.
