Components of slow-mildewing resistance of wheat cultivars or lines to powdery mildew

Xiayu Duan · Acta Phytopathologica Sinica · 2008

The field trials of components of slow-mildewing resistance of sixteen wheat cultivars or lines inoculated by isolate E20 were conducted in the growing seasons of 2003 to 2004 and 2004 to 2005.The results showed that latent period of all slow-mildewing cultivars or lines tested was longer, their infection probability was lower, the lesion size expansion was slower, and their sporulation capacity was fewer than that of the susceptible cultivar Jingshuang16.But the infection period of parts of slow-mildewing cultivars or lines was longer, while the others was shorter than that of Jingshuang16.The relationships between resistance components of slow-mildewing cultivars or lines and the area under disease progress curve(AUDPC) were analyzed. The results indicated that capacity of sporulation and lesion size expansion were more important than infection probability, latent period and the infection period.
