A New Method of Naming and Identifying Topological Entities

The problem of naming and identifying topological entities becomes a serious problem with feature technology.Based on the study of features of sheet metal parts and Zero Thickness Hypothesis,a new mechanism of naming and identifying topological entities of a feature model is proposed in this paper.It use the code number to name the topological entities,then it use the consistency be- tween the number of topological entities in sheet metal parts and that of the old model to detect topological entities.The experimental results show that the identified topological entities are more reasonable in respect to the design intent.
