Re-consideration of pharmacological problems in drug research and development of natural products

Natural products are regarded as vital key source of lead compounds for drug discovery due to their structural diversity and broad array of biological activities.When considering putting a natural product into the drug research and derelopment pipeline,attention must be paid on the following aspects: thorough study of the related documents of the compound;druggable consideration of physicochemical properties of the compound,effective concentration level of the compound based on the dose-effect and time-effect relationships with well-selected positive control in in vitro tests,performance of preliminary pharmacokinetic study before in vivo pharmacodynamic experiments,utilization of highly recognized pharmacodynamic models and mechanistic exploration after safety evaluation completed.
