Functional Equivalence:Translation Skills of Reduced Relative Clauses in English for Science and Technology

Nominal phrases and their modifications in English for Science and Technology(EST) constitute a unique grammar branch.Statistically,reduced relative clauses(RRCs) take up a high rate of occurrence in terms of frequency and complexity.This paper first introduces the stylistic features of EST,in terms of vocabulary,grammar and discourse,followed by an example-based analysis and illustration of comprehension and translation skills of RRCs under the guidance of Functional Equivalence.
