To Measure and Define Language Proficiencyin Applied Linguistic and SLA Studies——A Bibliometric Study

Language proficiency is what language competence reflects on the different stages of language acquisition,but this term differs a lot in either denotation or connotation between the two fields of language testing and SLA studies.In language studies,the data of this variable of language proficiency could not be replaced by the scores of standardized proficiency tests.The bibliometric statistics show that,in the studies in the relevant field at home,there are some problems in measuring and defining subjects' language proficiency,such as the conceptual confusion,the mismatches between research questions and measurements,and the over-simplification of measurements and etc.
