An optimization algorithm of image mosaic based on maximum mutual information

A new image stitching optimization method(OAMI) based on maximum mutual information(MI) is presented.The main idea of the new method is to combine PSO algorithm with wavelet multiresolution analysis strategy(MA),and the parameters of PSO are adapted along with the computing of mutual information and the multiresolution of the images.The experiments show that this method can avoid the registration process from sticking into local extremes in image interpolation operations and find the optimal registration transformation by limited optimization iterations,and improve the calculation speed and quality of the image mosaic.
