DPCM-based Algorithm for Logging Data Compression

The data transmission efficiency is required as must high as possible in reality because the logging data is large,and its data transmission needs strong real-time property.But anyway,most of oilfields still adopt the direct transmission style for the sample data nowadays.Therefore,an algorithm based on DPCM is proposed for logging data compression.The encoding flowchart was designed according to the characteristics of coding method.The relevant pretreatment of the logging data is conducted,and then the realization of data coding is achieved.Through an experiment,it is found that DPCM-based algorithm can remove the data redundancy effectively.In the case of ensuring that the error between the coding compressed logging data and original logging data is less than 5%,the compressed logging data volume is as same as half of the original logging data.Therefore,the logging data transmission efficiency is increased by twice.
