A Study on GIS－based River Basin Information System for Hydrology and Water Environment

In this paper first a brief introduction is given to the basic principles and methods for development of river basin information system for hydrology and water environment． Then the Hanshui River Basin is taken as an example for disscussing the necessity of the GIS－based river basin information system development and analyzing the functional requirements and structure of the system． After that an information system with some basic functions is developed for the Hanshui River Basin based on the 11000000 digital map ArcChina． At last the potential usage of the sysetm is discussed．
