The Implementation of Convolutional Encoding and Viterbi Decoding

The coding of convolution code adopted in 3G system and Viterbi decoding of 1/2 rate convolutional code are discussed in this paper. For the sake of realizing the system in higher efficiency with the same system’s performance, survivor path, data overflowing and decision parts are optimized in the system implementation. The results of optimization show that both the system performance and efficiency are improved. It also discusses the simulation’s results, which may provide significant reference in system implementation.
