A Preliminary Research on Japanese Parallel Expressions
Xia Jian-xin · Journal of Heilongjiang College of Education · 2009
Parallel expressions in various forms are often seen in Japanese, yet researches in this field are rarely conducted. This is partly because in syntax parallel expressions are regarded as a sort of 'indirect relationship' which is not very important and partly because the usage and meaning of parallel expressions seem to be so simple that they are not worth researching. This essay firstly discusses the syntactical traits of parallel expressions, arguing that parallel expressions are not merely characterized by indirect relationship, and then analyses the usage and meaning of '…deare…deare' and '…toii…toii' based on the idea of'set',revealing the fact that the 'sets' composed of parallel members in different parallel expressions have different traits.
