The constant modulus algorithm exhibits very slow convergence rates and large remainder error. The convergence rate of error switch algorithm (ESA) is rapid and the error of the steady state is on the small side, however, the switch dot is ambiguity thus resulting in that the algorithm diverge and the remain error is larger. In order to overcome these shortcomings,a new blind equalization algorithm based on the multi-mode error switch is proposed by considering the characteristics of the multiple quadrature amplitude modulation (MQAM) signals lied on several circles with known radius. Simulation results demonstrate fast convergence, less remainder error and satisfactory performance by using the algorithm.
