Research and design on the improved CIC decimation filter

CIC(cascaded integrator comb) filter is often used in the process of the sampling rate conversion for finishing the digital filter due to its simplicity which requires no multiplication or coefficient storage.Based on the introduction to the concept of CIC filter,a compensation filter which was based on the sine function and an improved CIC filter which was based on the sharpening technique were proposed in this paper.Both of compensation filter and sharpening technique can be used for improving the characteristics of passband and stopband of the CIC filter.By comparing the comprehensive performance,the designed filter has some advantages over the CIC filter and its improved one.
