Flavonoids are naturally derived polyphenol compounds which are chemically characterized with C6-C3-C6 structure, exist in various herbs and possess anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects etc.Accumulated research exhibits flavonoids have beneficial effects on delay or prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease and inflammation etc.In recent years, the cytoprotective effect of kaempferol has come to be a hotspot in the scientific field. In this review, the mechanisms of kaempferol including anti-oxidant mechanism,anti-inflammatory mechanism,anti-cancer mechanism are reviewed.
