Long Hong-xian · 2015

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln established a Drone Journalism Lab in November, 2011. It formally indicated the germination of Drone Journalism. Many universities began to study and practice Drone Journalism and they headlined the use of drone in news gathering. In 2014 September, the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) gave permission to six movie and television filming companies to use commercial drone for aerial photography for the first time. There months later, FAA gave clearance to eleven news organizations to test drones for news gathering. So Drone Journalism has officially been in a period of the industry application test, in an early stage of the system development. The drone is easy to be operated, can shot an aerial view and its price is very low. So it would be a new competitive tool for American media, become the new landscape of the world media.
