Image filtering method based on 2D cellular automata and median operator

The Cellular Automata-Median (CA-M) filter method is proposed to filter the noisy points in binary image for the image recognition pretreatment of handwritten Chinese characters and the detailed algorithm flow is presented. The experiment for the method is done to reduce noise by median filter and the algorithmic efficiency is calculated. The experimental results show that the method is highly effective for noise reduction in binary image.
