New detection method of minimum shift keying signals

Liao Wanyo · Journal of Computer Applications · 2015

Minimum Shift Keying( MSK) signal has high power and spectrum efficiency with constant amplitude, but it's application is limited because of complex coherent detection and worse noncoherent detection performance. In this paper,a new detection method based on waveform matching was designed according to phase continuous property of MSK signal: all possible waveform signals locally generated were correlated with received signal and accumulated within the time of multiple symbols, the result of the right waveform was much bigger than the others, this would be the right symbol. Computer simulation shows that the result of the right waveform is 576,which is more bigger than the others obviously( the biggest result of the others is 231. 87). With this new method,Bit Error Rate( BER) performance near coherent detection can be achieved, and accurate phase tracking is not necessary. This method can be used in some places which isn 't suitable for coherent detection, and can get 3 d B of BER nearly.
