Two key technologies for image wavelet transform:The regularity of filters and the process of signal boundary

The regularity of wavelet filters on image wavelet tr ansform for compression and coding is analyzed. The computerize experimental re sults showed that, for a flat image, the higher the regularity order is, the more c oncentrated is the information; but for a crossgrained image, this is not the case.In addition, the phase shift and boundary processing were also studied. T he author considers that forwardperiod extension in decomposition and backward period extension in reconstruction of signal is a good strategy as, it can keep the length and phase shift of the signal unchangeable.
