A MULTILEVEL BLOCKS-MATCHING ALGORITHM FOR IMAGE COMPRESSION BASED ON FRACTAL SET

A new multilevel blocks-matching algorithm for image compression and decompression scheme is presented which is based on fractal set and quickly iteration function system(IFS). The searching range is restricted by the higher-level blocks, and thus multilevel blocks-matching can reduce the searching complexity. The computational results showed that the approach is of high performance in improving image compression based on retaining image quality.
