A digital communication protocol and it's implementing method supported by theUNIX and using the language C are described.The protocol defined in a nationalstandards document by a major government research laboratory in the U.K.enablesfile transfers to take place between two computers linked by an asynchronous line.Theprogram to implement the protocol was designed for PDP 11/34 and Zilog S8000 com-puters,but is also available to other computers with little changes.The program runson computers at the University of Sussex and the Rutherford Laboratory in the U.K.successfully.
