Scheme for generating synthetic traffic of Ethernet

In this article we surveyed the self-similarity and long-range dependence of Ethernet traffic, and proposed detailed scheme which generate synthetic traffic with those properties. Based on the ON/OFF model and Pareto distribution, the scheme presents a generic model of data flow, which has simple interface and is easy to use. The simulation results confirm its performance as expected.
