Constructing of distributed Web-ECDIS based on XML technology

The development of marine transport has more strict demand for navigational safety. Therefore, chart information which is indispensable for safe navigation has to face the challenge of multiuser and multiservice. So, how to build rational data format and transmission mode, and improve the compatibility of ECDIS has become the keystone of research. The paper integrates with the XML and distributing technology, discusses the XML based modeling for chart, and builds the XML based distributed WebECDIS to provide different ends and different users which information services. All these provide adequate theoretical and technical support for the development of the Web-ECDIS.
