A Time-frequency Transform Based Identification Method for Synchronous Generator Parameters

Zhiqian Li · Proceedings of the CSEE · 2014

In order to obtain accurate value of the generator parameters, especially transient and sub-transient parameters to satisfy the increasingly sophisticated simulation requirements of the power system, a time-frequency transform based identification method for synchronous generator was proposed. Firstly, differential equations of the generator in time domain were transformed into an algebraic equation in frequency domain. After eliminating intermediate variables, the equation was then transformed back into an integral equation in the time domain. Secondly, after using the least squares method to identify the integral equation coefficients, the generator parameters was then solved algebraically from these coefficients. The method is suitable for tests with large disturbance and remain stable under environmental and numerical noises. Examples on a load rejection test, which is indispensable for generator before commercial operation, shows that the algorithm is accurate and convergent, easy to apply in engineering.
