A Microscope Traffic Parameter Extraction Method by Vehicle Tracking

It’s important to obtain microscope traffic parameters in intelligent transportation system. In this paper, traffic parameters are extracted by vehicle tracking. First, the vehicles are tracked by dynamic image processing techniques; then, a camera model is presented to obtain traffic parameters. Based on this model and vehicle tracking results, the methods are presented to obtain the vehicle position, estimate instantaneous vehiclespeed and some other traffic parameters. The experimental results show that our methods are useful and easy to apply.
