In order to explain the unknown reason flashover of circuit high voltage insulators, professor Yuanshun from Shenyang University of Technology proposed the theory of plasmoid shortening the valid insulation distance, which leading to the breakdown, thereby the plasma particle motion model based on this theory was put forward. To verify the correctness of the theory,an artificial pollution tests on 10 kV composite insulator based on UV imaging was designed and tested, and UV imaging observations of flashover was added to get the UV imaging data.Result shows that UV radiation is enhanced on the side of insulator fittings with the increasing voltage and pollution, and all parameters of plasmids have trends to increase, which proved the correctness of the theory.Combining the theory wirh experimental data,it comes to the conclusion that polluted flashover voltage of insulators with large sheds is higher than that of insulators with small ones.
