A Four-layer Internet Application

Aiming at the shortages of the structure of existing Internet applic ation, this paper presents a new four-layer structure and probes in SOAP (simpl e object access protocol). With the distributed sub-system of digital library a s a practical project, the components and implementation of the system are desc rib ed and some key problems and their solutions including error management mech anis m, security mechanism and the format of data expression and exchange are al so di scussed in the end.
