Analysis of MPEG-2 program stream and design of program streamdemultiplexor

Fei Ke-lin · Automation and Instrumentation · 2009

In multi-media applications, to meet various of practical requirements, multiplexing is necessary to combine one or more elementary streams of video and audio into single or multiple streams which are suitable for storage or transmission. In addition , demultiplexing is required to play the multiplexed coded representation of one or more audio and video streams too. The analysis of bit stream is very important. As a widely used standard, system coding in MEG-2 is specified in two forms: the Transport Stream and the Program Stream. In contrast with fixed length of pack in transport stream, the length of pack is variable in program stream. Through research of MEG-2 and analysis bit stream of specific program stream, software design of demultiplexing program stream is implemented , which is applied in system analysis and test.
