Evaluation of Broadband Applications

This paper examines the characteristics of four broadband applications. They are distance Iearning, LAN interconnect, medical imaging and traffic aggregation applications. In addition, it identifies the technologv used to support these broadband applications-Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). ATM is chosen because of its flexibility to support the vastly distinct requirements of these applications. The four applications discussed in this paper are considered as the immediate beneficiaries of ATM technology.
