A Method for Detecting Buffer Overflow Based on IDA Pro

Buffer overflow has become one of the mainly concerned security problems.This paperfirst makes a sum- mary of the basic principle and detecting techniques of buffer overflow.Then based on the powerful disassembling plat- form IDA,it describes the methods to detect the buffer overflows in the binary codes,and thus the function dependence graph is obtained with the IDC script language.Finally the result of an example by this detection method is provided.
