Software evolution is a set of activities which improve software once it is delivered to a customer,it is a process which generates a new software version from an earlier version,and it is an important sub-area of software engineering.The authors give a survey to software evolution.Firstly,describe the definition, development history and the main research contents of software evolution.Then describe some software evolution methods.Lastly the paper discusses some challenges in software evolution.
