Analyzing and improving performance of TCP over IEEE 802.11 DCF

Guangxin Yue · Journal of Circuits and Systems · 2008

The performance of TCP over IEEE 802.11 DCF (RTS/CTS and CSMA/CA) is analyzed when WLAN is in high load, according to this analysis RWB (reserve window backoff) algorithm that communicate between MAC-layer and Transport-layer is presented to alleviate the bad influence of WLAN MAC on TCP. This algorithm improves the TCP throughput and stability. Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the RWB algorithm.
