Study and implementation of video transcoding between MPEG-2 and MPEG-4

The transcoding of compressed video stream can dynamically convert the video from one format to another. In this paper, we focus on the transcoding between MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. A motion vector re-use transcoding structure is put forward here, and the key algorithms are studied also. Simulation results testified that the structure and algorithms in this paper can reduce computational requirement while maintaining robustness and flexibility.
