Internet standard management framework has been based on the simple nerwork management protocol(SNMP).Although it is likely that SNMP will remain the protocol of choice for many monitoring tasks,it is not the ideal technology for tasks such as configuration management. With the development and advancement of extensible markup language(XML) technology, especially XML-RPC mechanism, and together with secure transport protocol,it will overcome the shortcomings and provide a secure and efficient network configuration management. To validate this new effort, this paper presents the design and implementation of an XML-based configuration management system based on Netconf and module design.
