Demolishing a 120 m Chimney by Directional Blasting Skills in Complex Circumstance

The characters of directional blasting for demolishing the 120 m chimney in Heshan Power Plant are that the toppling range is narrow(a sector of +8° angle), the chimney′s inner structure is not symmetrical in the toppling direction, the body′s construction quality is relatively poor, and the engineering is very difficult with high risk. This paper mainly surveys the design and construction gist of the asymmetrical chimney′s demolition blasting, puts forward the thinking that its symmetry can be rectified. These measures are as follows: If there are asymmetrical doors, windows or strong points beside the prediction symmetrical line, the other doors, windows or strong points are done at the symmetrical points after check computation. At last, the paper sums up and analyzes the blasting experience.
