TOPSIS algorithm for ordinal multi-attribute decision making with incomplete weight information

Li Fa Wu · Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems · 2013

Aiming at the multi-attribute decision making with incomplete weight information and ordinal attribute value,a novel decision making approach based on approximate value of ordinal information was proposed for multi-attribute decision problems. The Multilayer Rank Order Centroid(MROC)algorithm was presented and was used to convert ordinal value of alternatives into cardinal value. The positive and negative ideal points of the alternatives were determined and optimization models of the distance between each alternative and the ideal points were formulated with imprecise weights. An interval index to sort the alternatives was proposed. The ranking was obtained by the calculation of the sorting index based on the possibility of interval number. It was revealed that the proposed method was feasible and effective through calculation of the case study and comparison of the results.
