3D tracking of cardiac vessels in angiogram sequences based on deformable model

An original “top-down” method for tracking coronary arteries in 3D from X-ray angiogram sequences is proposed. Vascular skeletons are reconstructed through deformable model deforming directly in 3D, where a proper energy function is minimized. As a result, 2D skeleton extraction, 3D reconstruction and motion tracking are acquired simultaneously. We have applied this method to real angiographic data and results show that it is efficient in improving the accuracy of reconstruction and lowering the computing cost.
