A Patrol System for Railway Signal Devices Based on GPS and RFID

To facilitate management of the personnel responsible for the patrolling railway signal devices,a new patrol system was devised by incorporating GPS and RFID technologies.It records the patrol route by GPS,to make sure that the personnel patrol according to the pre-setting route and order.And it can affirm by RFID if the personnel have checked a certain device.GPS and RFID are incorporated to standardization of operation,when a device is opened and checked.This new system overcomes the following deficiencies of the current electronic patrol systems.The iButtons in the iButton-based patrolsystem are easily destoried and hardly read;GPS/GIS based patrol systems have too low patrol precision to differentiate difficiencies of the devices;the RFID based patrol system cannot patrol routes or check normalization of the operation of the patrol personnel.So this new potrol system has better reliability.This paper introduces the design principles,application of key technologies and implementation of hardware and software.
