A Lexical-Functional Approach to the Analysis of A+I Construction

In the framework of lexical-functional grammar,A+I construction is analyzed to be functional control construction and is purely a lexically governed syntactic phenomenon.The phenomena of raising to subject,raising to object and control constructions in the framework of transformational grammar are respectively described in a unique way in LFG.The differences in LFG and TG's analysis on A+I construction are rooted in their distinctive hypothesis in syntactic operations.LFG adopts a lexicalism point of view as lexicon plays an essential role in it.
