STUDING ON SPREAD OF TEMPORAL LOBE EPILEPSY IN INTERICTAL EPILEPTIFORM DISCHARGES USING DYNAMIC CAUSAL MODELING

Zhong Yuan · Acta Biophysica Sinica · 2009

In the temporal lobe epilepsy, both mesial temporal lobe and temporal cortex were involved in the origins and spread of epileptiform activity.Dynamic causal modeling(DCM) was applied to study the important role of mesial temporal lobe in temporal lobe epilepsy, and the interictal epileptiform discharges(IEDs) read from EEG were used perturbations the models.DCM,in combination with bayesian estimation was used to evaluate the parameters among selected neurons, bayes factors were used to select the optimal model. Finally, the research conclusion of effective connectivity between mesial temporal lobe and temporal cortex was reached, and it was found that mesial temporal lobe was the front spread region of IEDs.
