Bing Xiao · Journal of Central China Normal University · 2004
Laozi is one of thinkers in ancient China. His saying——Great having voices, is using few voices to glorify great music and is advocating the simultaneous growth of having and not havin g, and the hamonious relation of voice and noise. The deep aesthetic meaning of the saying is that: one, using the whole to feel and embrace the whole ima ge; the other, using the pause note to reach the magic stage of that uttering no voice is just like having voices, even uttering no voice is much more meaningf ul than having voices. This is the extreme stage that Chinese aesthetics purses and the climax state in the appreciation of music.
