Requirements for Abstracts in Academic Thesis

s in Engineering Index and the methods of keeping the abstracts to a minimum length are introduced. Some problems in English abstracts of Chinese scientific journals are presented such as losing the main points of papers and too much background and useless information. Such examples are given to illustrate how to improve the abstracts.
