Symbol Rate Estimation of Digital Signal Based on Wavelet Transform

Digital signal is in transient state on the border of adjacent different symbols, and wavelet transform (WT) is suitable for detecting transient signals. The envelope of signal after WT is also transient signal. So we can utilize two WT to detect the boundary of digital signal, and then estimate its symbol rate. The method does not need any prior knowledge of signal type. Computer emulation proved that this method has perfect precision even in fairly low signal-noise ratio (SNR).
