Map matching algorithm based on topological relations for urban bus intelligent monitoring system

In the city bus monitor system, the orientation data amount needed to be dealt with is vast. Based on analyzing the characteristic of bus routing, the geometry map-matching algorithm based on topological relation was put forward in this contribution. In this algorithm, the corrected GPS orientation data could be obtained with the rule of choosing nearest location. Examinations showed the orientation error was only residual on the tangent direction of road with the algorithm, and the error on the normal direction of road was reduced prominently. Compared with the other map -matching algorithm, the excellence at the aspect of time could be picked up.
