Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of key performance indicators(KPI) used in volume management of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis. Methods The reasons and risk factors of death or quit in the peritoneal dialysis center were retrospectively analyzed. Then, the key performance indicators were identified and applied in volume management of 405 patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis for 12 months. Results The patient's blood pressure monitor success rate increased from 78.5% to 92.1%,clinic visit rate increased from 86.1% to92.6%, clinic test completion rate increased from 72.4% to 84.6%. During the follow-up, one case(0.2%) died of cardiovascular compli-cations,two cases(0.4%) transferred to hemodialysis due to volume overload,10 cases(2%)received kidney transplantation and one case(0.2%) dropped out. Conclusion Application of key performance indicators in volume management of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis can effectively improve the patients' quality of life.
